Specs4Us Review: Glasses for Kids with Down Syndrome

We were thankful a FRIENDS Family introduced us to Specs4Us! For our little guy we went with the EW11 frames. We are also thankful to Maria Dellapina, a mom of a precious little girl with Down Syndrome for using her optical experience in creating frames just especially for our kiddos! The frames are designed to fit the small nose bridge and the ear positioning (with adjustable side arms) that may be different for children with Down Syndrome. Take a look how flattering these frames are. We get lots of compliments on his glasses. We get lots of double takes on them too, because they have a lower fitting bridge, we have had some kids tell us, he has his glasses upside down.

The young lady that helps us with our frames and adjusts our glasses said these are the best glasses she’s seen for kids. She said that since we started using them, she has introduced them to other children that could benefit from them, that didn’t have Down Syndrome. The are adjusted in multiple ways and are very durable, however our little guy (going on 7) is very rough on them. For a while we had to have them adjusted often (sometimes twice a week) till he learned how to put them on with 2 hands.

Now let me go on to say, tech support with Specs4Us is amazing too! We had an instance where Rye jerked off an over the ear pad, which is not covered by warranty in our local office. We were able to order the replacement part very easily and it was like $13. We also had an instance where Rye got mad and over extended the arm on one side of the glasses, the wrong way and it broke eventually. They replaced that under warranty and even sent some extra over the ear pads that time. I couldn’t be more pleased with tech support. So if your eye doctor says that’s not covered under warranty, don’t give up… call Specs4Us and see what options you have to extend the life of the frames.

You can even donate your old frames back to help patients in 3rd World Countries to get completely refurbished frames. Bless someone else, I like that.
